Wizz Airlines – all you can fly update

During September 2024, I purchased a year long an all-you-can-fly pass with Wizz Air for USD/Euro $499 (they were basically at par).

It was a leap of faith since I had to get to Europe to use the pass. So far, so good, as I have made it to Europe twice already for a reasonable cost on Norse Airlines.  I have paid anywhere from $109 to $250 each way from Los Angeles.

I do not plan to renew the pass, but I am planning one more trip before the pass expires at the end of September, as there are so many Countries left to explore.  I have gotten great value from the pass, using it 15 times (~$33 a flight) on the first two trips to Europe to use the pass.

That works out to about 30 dollars a flight, which is incredible in itself.  The part I enjoy the most is the spontaneity of using the pass.  I log in to the website, and I can choose from 52 different countries based on availability.  There is a three-day window for bookings, so it can be the same day or within three days when you leave your departure.

Here is a list of the Countries available for booking:

Since I will be traveling during the Summer, I hope to visit some Northern countries.  Here is my wish list keeping in mind that it is standby so I will not be able to reach them all.

– Norway (Wizz flies to ten cities).

– Sweden (Wizz flies to three cities).

– Poland (Wizz flies to ten cities)

– God willing, Ukraine, if the war is over. (Wizz flies to Kraków, which is a short bus ride to Lviv).

– Portugal (Wizz flies to four different cities).

– Spain (I have been to Madrid and Barcelona already, and Wizz flies to fourteen different cities in Spain).

– Germany (Wizz flies to eight cities).

– Czechoslovakia (Prague only – I hear the Czecks make the best beer in Europe!)

 – Saudi Arabia (I have been to Abu Dhabi and Dubai in the Middle East. I would love to go back to the UAE too!).

Other countries will be substituted in trying to get to these, which will be incredible too!

First things first; I had to find a cheap return flight to Europe in August or September as the pass expires on September 25th.  So far, Los Angeles to London (showing below on Google/travel, my go-to) is the cheapest, $475 return. I am also watching Los Angeles to Paris and Las Vegas to Paris as they are all around the same prices right now.

I can also choose to book one-way trips, keeping my options open, which may also be cheaper too!

EDIT: I ultimately found an amazing round trip flight for $402 USD for the month of September 2025.

Visiting Mi casita in Mexico!

It was a weird two weeks back home in AZ, to say the least.

I left on January 12th, 2025, which seems like a different world when you’re a dual citizen and love Canada, America, and Mexico. I am still the same person, but it felt different.

It was time to head to Mexico for a few weeks to shake off the international rust with some good old home-cooked meals, beach beers, and visit my Mexican Familia.

I took the shuttle from Phoenix for $55, and it dropped me off down the street from my casa, which is perfect. It takes me about four hours to drive door to door from my condo in Mesa. The shuttle leaves from West Phoenix and takes about the same time.  The USA van takes you to the border, and you walk across, and the Mexican van is waiting. It works out perfectly!

I keep my truck here as it is only $175 a year to insure and inexpensive to maintain. It is a 2003 F-150 I bought off the showroom floor, so I don’t want to let it go. Any major issues will be the end in the United States. My mechanic here is a tenth of the price, so it is a good place to try to keep it on the road. I only drive it around town, which should keep it going for a long time.

When I arrived, my landlord greeted me with a high five and let me know that they deep deep-cleaned my room. It felt so good to open that door after almost four months of being away. I have everything I need here to live a simple life. Comfy bed, beer fridge, grill, office, and a 55″ TV all for $150 a month. That is why I have zero issues keeping it empty most of the year. It is here when my AZ Airbnb is rented or when I want to just get away.

I always have a couple of first stops to see local faces and grab some of my favorites when I come to town. The prices are about half of what I would pay in the United States or Canada which makes it take even better.

I had my favorite chicken enchiladas with green sauce (pollo enchiladas verde).

I know what you’re thinking, yes, I demolished it all in one sitting!  I also had the best sleep in months, as it is such a comfortable situation here.

Lower prices, oceanfront beers, playoff hockey, and everyone always has a great time!

The Oilers played horribly but the $3 cervezas and 2 for-1 wings made up for it! 👌One of the most famous restaurants in Rocky Point is Pollo Lucas (Lucas Chicken).  It is a short ten-minute walk from my pad, and it is amazing.

You can order 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, or the whole chicken and eat it or take it to go.

Each order comes with onions and lettuce, with the awesome homemade salsa and tortillas.

I get the 1/4 chicken for 65 pesos, which is $2.32 for the best lunch ever! The half chicken is 120 Pesos which can feed two people easily for $5 and the 3/4 and whole chicken can feed larger families.

Friday nights are surf and turn night at my local watering hole down the street.

The prices cannot be beat as that was $32 USD and absolutely amazing with a draft beer and hockey.

Wizz airlines all you can fly!

This is the latest pass I purchased for USD 550, and my favorite by a long shot. Wizz is a discount airline based in Budapest, Hungary, that flies to 52 different countries within Europe, the UK, Ireland, Iceland, and the Middle East, including the Maldives. The obvious hitch here is that you need to get to one of those countries to start using the pass, which can be difficult depending on the time of year. I have only used the pass a handful of times for that reason, but it has easily paid itself off with one of the five flights I have already taken. I was able to find a flight from Los Angeles to London Gatwick for $109 on Norse Airlines (click link), which within itself is amazing! I was also able to fly home using a buddy pass, which was amazing too!

I am headed back to Europe to use the pass again in March 2024 for 42 days. Keep an eye out for updates as my bucket list for that trip is plentiful and will include the Euro pass train ticket (click link) I bought, too.

Below is a summary and link from the Wizz website (click link):

Here are the places I have been on the Wizz AYCF pass, including two I had to cancel due to illness:

London

Varna, Bulgaria

Budapest, Hungary

Vienna, Austria

Abu Dhabi/Dubai, UAE

Maldives – cancelled

Barcelona, Spain – cancelled

volaris

Volaris all you can fly (AYCF) annual pass

The Volaris Pass is my favorite because, well, it’s Mexico, and who doesn’t love Mexico? This is the second AYCF pass (Frontier, Volaris, and Wizz) that I purchased. I am guessing that I was one of the first to buy the pass as I waited until one minute after midnight on the first day it went on sale to take advantage of the half-price promotion. I paid 3999 pesos, which is approximately $200 today. The regular price is now listed in American dollars for $499. The best part is that the renewal gets me the promotional price.

frontier

GoWild! The Frontier all you can fly pass!!

This is the first all-you-can-fly (AYCF) pass I bought back in 2023 and paid USD 499. I was working four days a week including weekends which was perfect as there we a lot more empty seats during the week for me.

Frontier did not know what they were getting into, so they started the price very high. They ran early bird specials at lower prices and gradually raised the price, with all passes renewing at $2000. They then started selling Summer and Winter passes for cheaper, and eventually dropped the price to $299

This is the least favorite of the three AYCF passes (Frontier, Volaris and Wizz) simply because it does not offer the best destinations. I plan to keep renewing it at $299 as it helps me get to around the United States perfectly and I have had decent luck finding open seats when needed.

Below are the destinations that I have visited with the pass so far:

Los Angeles three times

Baltimore

Las Vegas twice

San Diego twice

Dominican Republic

Virgin Islands

Denver

After three years, I did not renew my pass.  I have enough points to get me through this year, and the price has gone up to $599.  They are promoting it for $299 to new customers which pissed me off as well.
