What I Have Learned From Travelers!

One of the most interesting parts of my journey has been meeting fellow travelers.

Many of them travel with a level of freedom and confidence that amazes me. Some do not have everything perfectly planned. They figure things out as they go.

As someone who has always planned carefully, it has been fascinating to watch.

What I have learned is that there is value on both sides.

Planning provides security.
Flexibility provides freedom.

The ideal approach may be finding a balance:

Prepare enough so you are safe.
Stay flexible enough so you can enjoy the moment.

I do not want to tell anyone how to live their lives.

Everyone has their own path.

Instead, I want to learn from other travelers ability to embrace uncertainty while also sharing the importance of preparing for the future.

Why I Created This Website

The reason I share my story is simple:

I want people to realize they may have more options than they think through my experiences.

I learn so much from fellow travellers old and young!

You do not have to follow a traditional retirement path if it does not fit your goals.

Maybe the answer is:

Downsizing earlier.
Reducing expenses.
Moving part-time to a lower-cost country.
Traveling differently.
Rethinking what you truly need.

The purpose is not to convince everyone to live exactly like me.

The purpose is to help people ask better questions.

Could you retire earlier?
Could you design a different lifestyle?
Could you trade some material things for more freedom and experiences?

My hope is that someone reading my story realizes they do not have to work forever without exploring other possibilities.

Retirement is not just about leaving work behind.

It is about creating a life you are excited to wake up to.

I will always be the first one to tell you that, I have not and may not ever figure it all out.

I can just guarantee you that, I will die trying!

Over 50, never married; the idiot …

I came across an interesting post on Instagram the other day from “Psychological warfare”.

“If you’ve experienced marriage, you’ll probably never understand your 50-plus-year-old uncle who never married”.

You might even think he’s the idiot but, think again!

It made me laugh because there’s is so much truth in it!

I am kind of an idiot but, I kind of think some of you might be too!!

I chose a different path—one filled with relocations, career opportunities, solo travel, and eventually a life of freedom and exploration.

People tend to focus on how society expects you to life your life!

If you don’t fit in their box, you’re an idiot!

Here is the Instagram post and make sure you take it with a grain of salt!

I’ve also never tasted “real marriage”, but I’ve come close enough to consider myself a self-proclaimed expert.

Then again… It’s my blog.

I get to make the rules. 😁

The ironic part is that many of the people making comments have challenges in their own lives.

Yet somehow, they still find the time to focus on my life.

I guess that makes them feel better about their own issues.

Instead of understanding why someone chose a different path, it’s easier to criticize it.

I’m learning to step away.

At the end of the day, I’m the one who has to live my life—not them.

I seem to be happiest when I’m simply trying to live life to my fullest, tuning out the critics, and resisting the urge to compare myself to people who think they’re “normal.”

The truth is, there really isn’t a normal even if people try to put you down.

Most of us are just figuring it out as we go.
